I just took my folks to the beach for a day (Straddie) and we do fit in my TJ: Two teenagers, two small dogs and my missus and me + esky, towels and sandwiches from local shop....and the car is full to the brim,

but a LWB version and I would know what to do with all the extra room now

Marketing play on words they said 15% less departure angle so the first time you read it , you think it is better but it is worse

I looked up the specs on the us site and compared them

Unlimited

F 44.2
R 28.6
Break over 22.2

Aussie TJ ( US modles vary based on package level)

F 41.8
R 31.3
Break over 22.3

Rubicon (US spec)

F 44.9
R 33.9
Break over 25.4

Of course all of this is academic if you plan to lift it anyway

Out of interest

A turbo diesel Landcruiser ( named as best all terrian vehical for 2003)

F 34
R 26
Break over 25

Nissan wouldnt list their specs for approach and depature angles so I imagine they are worse then the toyota

Reply for DC about bringing this in

All in all a good answer for a pollitician but there is still some glimer of hope

At this point in time there are several Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge models that are under investigation for the Australian market and the decision process, as to which vehicles will be sold to the Australia market, is ongoing.

Of course, we actively lobby for additional product on an ongoing basis, but the product development process is a long one. At this point in time, all we can really say is thanks for your interest and stay tuned.

Kind regards,

The Chrysler Jeep Marketing Team

Comments :Since Jeep US annouced the Wrangler unlimited for the 2004 modle lineup is there any plans to offer this in Australia?

It fits my current needs in a vehical and would seriously consider it if available.

There is plenty of interest in this from other members of the Jeeping community in Australia also, I can point you to a web based discussion if your interested
