Thanks for the pics Zach, it's a nice looking cage and certainly has given me some more ideas.

It looks like it's made of fairly large tube? Is it 50mm? All made of the same size?

I do see 2 problems however with CAMS compliance. (from what I get out of reading the rules anyway).

1. You are not allowed to have any cross member (aside from the roof level one AKA front hoop) above the dash level. It needs to be going through the dash if you want more than 1.

2. My interpretation of the cross member rules was that they must attach to the main hoop not more than 100mm from the top where it meets the backstays and not more than 100mm from where it mounts to the floor of the vehicle. (someone correct me if I'm wrong?)

And a minor one with the fire extinguishers. They need to be mounted horizontally, rather than vertially. And you need to use steel mounting points.

This probably isn't a problem, because I doubt he'll need to be getting the cage certified by CAMS, but I wonder about the road legality of having a bar across the top of the dash. This may not be a problem because you've said the cage is for offroad use only.

What is everyone doing about seatbelt mounts once you've put your new cage in?

My impression is that you can't fit a normal 3 point harness anymore, because you're not allowed to drill any holes in the main hoop. So that leaves you with harnesses (which I was going to use for offroad anyway).

What's the legalities around using harnesses on road? As far as I've heard, you can use a 4 point harness, as long as you use the ADR un-clipping latches, which are the ones with the red button that looks like a normal seat belt, rather than the proper harness one which you twist to open.

The CCDA specs say 4 point harness anyway (dont they )
I am planning to mount the harness to the floor where the rear stock mounts were - then over the horrizontal bar (which I still need to add).
I plan to retain the factory 3 point belt for street use because I've heard too many conflicting stories about onroad - so stock for onroad thanks

Yep CCDA say min 4 point harness for class B and C events.

I gather your main hoop is still the factory one, which has the seatbelt points already in it Wooders?

My concern is that my main hoop won't have the factory points, and you can't drill holes. So it would probably be a matter of welding some new brackets on I guess?

Yup I still have the factory main hoop.
options for you:
Drill & sleeve it - just like the factory hoop.
Or weld a tab on for the setabelt
