Picked it up and drove it home from Newcastle. First jeep but been a fan of them for a while. Lift and tyres tomorrow. Gotta love tax time.

That's thinking outside of the box, commercial HID lamps appear to have an integrated ballast I would have though an externally mounted ballast would be more thermally appropriate... is that how you've gone Steve?

I'm thinking the huge Narva driving lights (Taurus/Extreme/Ultima 225's) would make an excellent host for a HID build-up/upgrade... any thoughts?
Yep, external ballast mounted inside the bullbar so it gets some airflow. The ones I picked are also filled with a sealant so are 100% waterproof.

Cheers
Steve

The refreshed headlight system works so much better now.

My PIAA's are cast alloy bodies so I don't think that will work too well.....
A mate of mine did the same thing with his Narvas when he fitted HID's into them....

That is a bit pointless as driving lights don't help when it is foggy, the low mounted fog lamps do though.....

yerr go figure. The SA Parliament introduced a whole heap of changes about 12 months ago. Another unrelated one was no riding a push bike while walking the dog and no kids on back of motorbikes under 12years, they have to be in a side car. Yet the shotty side cars I have seen I would rather be on back any day.

Do you mean...

Fog lights [ARR 217(1)]

Drivers can only use front fog lights in hazardous weather conditions. This brings the rule into line with the existing situation for rear fog lights. Use of fog lights in other conditions can dazzle oncoming drivers. Previously front fog lights that dazzled approaching drivers were dealt with as an offence under a different rule.

Fog lights are not driving lights they perform/operate and are mounted/aligned differently, see definition below...

Fog lights are defined as a pair of white or yellow low-beam lights operated independently of headlights at the front of the vehicle and not reflecting into the driver's eyes, and a red light of less than 27 watts at the rear of the vehicle.
