actually to meet ADR69 it will need to have air bag compliance yhus must be tested. Just meeting protrusion and exposed edges does not mean adr compliance.

do they crash test them? how is the testing carried out what is involved?

crash testing the bar on a test rig and measuring deceleration to prove the bar is not too ridgid and will allow normal operation of the airbags in the event of a full frontal impact with a tree or another car but not an animal the size of a roo.


It's a compromis when designnig a bar, making it strong enough for a winch and an animal strike but not too strong as to effect air bag deploymet in a full frontal impact.
