Sure does sound like you have some very unfortunate experience with this. The ad is on Gumtree. The rego checks out and will do a REVS check soon. Trying to find someone in Broome to do an inspection now.

It's times like this I guess that some sort of vehicle buyers advocate might be nice.

Hey Farwest. Thanks for bringing this up. I would never have thought of it otherwise.

Cheers.

I checked out the add and it looks pretty good.
Lots of stuff replaced and she seems in good Nic.
Broome, and all the towns up there have their own economy due to the isolation.
Everything is much more expensive than in Perth, including boats, caravans etc.
He had put $1000 of rego on the car. The plates can be handed in and you will be reimbursed the amount left.
Definitely get it checked out and if proceeding, find a reputable transport company and a way of payment that won’t leave you being ripped off.

Cheers,

Yep, it is exactly what I am looking for. The inspection should happen next week, then hopefully straight onto a truck. PPSR check completed and all good.

The payment part will be a little scary, but I guess if I get confirmation from the transport company that they have it, then I should be covered. I will be organising the transport . These guys seem good value for depot to depot.

Any idea how the transfer works? Do they just fill in the normal transfer papers then email to me?

Hey Rob,

Unfortunately im in Perth and when i do go to work i fly up to Karratha, which is still 1000km from Broome. Im only in Karratha an hour and jump on a helicopter out to the rigs.
I bought a car for my boy on Gumtree recently. I talked to the guy a lot to get the feel for the whole thing. He actually drove it to my sisters house, she gave him the money and also paid his Uber fare back home.
Transfer papers are a bit of a pain. There are two copies that are different colours. Seller fills in one, and the buyer fills in the other.
Go here for all the info you need:
https://www.transport.wa.gov.au/lice...-a-vehicle.asp

Good luck with it.. it looks perfect. Not sure why all the black overland GCs are around Broome and Port Headland??

Cheers,
