Hi guys.
We had the same issues, recall done, no low range. Take it back and they did it properly ( clear code 3 times ).
Checked it at dealership, fine. Checked a few days later, fine. Checked a couple of weeks later...........back to square one.

Went into jeep today and they done some testing. I had already done some research on this issue here and the US and seems to be the same, the TF case actuator is not compatable with the reflash. Dealer said seems so but not all affected.

Went back to pick up the car and was told what I was waiting to hear....the actuator needs replacing.

He was in the process of putting in a claim to jeep/Chrysler about it but I won't hold too much hope.

Asked about the price, he gave me a figure of about $850, I said can he go cheaper as I can source the same part for at least half that. He did say he would go to what they bought them for, which was a touch cheaper....

Now I'm going to get it done either way so a few questions if anybody knows....

If I supply my own part they won't give a warranty on it, and if it doesn't work then it's my problem to sort warranty from supplier, even if it is genuine mopar part.
If they supply and it doesn't work then it's their problem with warranty.

From what I have read there is no guarantee that this will fix the problem, but those that have had it done have had no more problems.
I have also read that jeep/Chrysler in the US are supplying a different actuator, has anybody heard this???

Is it worth taking the warranty on their part which will be twice what I should be able to get it for?

Bloody don't know, wait to hear from the stealer ship I spose.( think I know what the answer will be )

Long winded rant over

Cheers

Surely there must be something in our consumer protection laws (generally considered some of the strongest in the world.) along the lines of "A vehicle recall must not force owners to pay to upgrade a related component".

There is clearly some BS going on at Chrysler Aus.

Default Woot woot

Wow, just got the call back from jeep...............

. They have approval to replace the actuator. To say I was shocked was an understatement.
Not bad for a 06 GC.
They are ordering it today and will organize to fit when it comes in, they reckon a week or so.

Woohoo. Hope this is the end of it.

Cheers

That's a fantastic result for you and everyone else who have the same issue.

If you can find out the part number of the replacement actuator, it will be a big help for anyone needing one in the future.

I sent an email to Jeep Customerm service late last week pointing out the USA recall included replacement of the actuator, got a call from them on Monday and I was advised that the the replacement of failed actuators was part of the recall and my dealer had been advised accordingly. Got a call from the dealer advising the same and a replacement part had been ordered for my vehicle. Unless things have changed since then there are no actuators in Australia and are on back order, not sure how long it will take to get them here.

Yes that's the part number in my manual, I was thinking there might have been an updated part number but maybe not
