I know its off topic, but.....Our G60 went up Cape York in 1973 - clutch slave rubber failed in the Archer River and all the fluid fell out - took 2 days of starting in gear on the key to get to Weipa - and there were quite a few gates in those days. Got the rubber for 32c at the servo and fixed it on the driveway in about 10 minutes.
No electrics under the seat either - crossing the Jardine the water was up to the top of the transmission tunnel inside. Just opened the doors and let it drain out and continued the adventure (with a 44 of fuel roped upright in the back). It was a tough truck.
I think things would be very different with an electronic failure up there with what we drive now.
And at 6 deg here the heated seats were very nice thank you.

OLMATE ,no belt adjustment on the alternator.Remove earth wire from battery.Remove black plastic belt cover from front of motor ,think from memory 5 bolts spaced around cover,be carefull as they can fall out.wind belt tensioner around to loosen belt put in a pin to hold tension , Remove belt noting how belt goes around pulleys.Remove plug/ wire from alternator ,remove four alternator bolts and out it comes. This is for diesel.

Update on Burning / smoking alternator:
I can't speak highly enough of FCA and Gerald Slaven Jeep in Belconnen ACT.

FCA has completely paid for a new alternator to be fitted, and they have taken my old alternator to see what went wrong with the internals, to form part of what they have indicated will be a recall similar to T36 but this time for diesel engined cars. (T36 was a recall for an alternator issue but only for petrol engined cars). It looks like the same issue with the alternator but in the diesel engined cars. I have a few cars so left the car with them for a week ... all done and $0 cost.

Will I buy another Jeep ... you bet!!
