Hi all, regarding dealers stating they wont warrant a car if its been modded is crap as far as im concerned. they have to prove the mod is what caused the problem in the first place.
This is the policy for Mitsubishi, Mazda and Holden (i work for these 3) and I then rung Ford and Toyota so i would assume it is a fairly general assumption across the board.

on another note are the rancho 9000 adjustables worth the extra coin over the 5000's the car is a daily driver, does not tow rarely carries a load but has a winch and bar on the front and goes bush every second weekend or so.

Wrong

The customer will have to prove the mod didn't cause the problem, as most dealers will reject a warranty claim as soon as any mods are detected..........

I have OME/ARB springs and shocks but the xtra lift (more like 3.5 - 4 inches instead of 2) definitely responsible for DW in my vehicle, probably becaise of change to diff alignment etc. Nitro shocks are very good. I have had the rear springs re-set to original height and the front springs removed and replaced with original springs....no more DW. and happy with the overall perfromance. It cost me $1600 to fit new spring and shock and another $2500 to sort out the DW problem. I definitely would not buy ARB product again; it's just a set of srprings and shock off the shelf and does not take into account the peculiarities of the Jeep's front suspension. I would probably go a proper full kit eg. AEV or Rubicon express becuase they have been specifically designed to deal with the Jeep' front end.

a cheap set of cam bolts to adjust the castor on the lower control arms at the front would have resolved that.

Default Old Man Emu or Rancho

My two cents worth based on my own research. I have been considering the same for about 3 months. I have decided to go with the Rancho shocks and King springs from Wizard. Reasons include the OME shocks are approx 2" shorter than the Rancho's and other brands, they are yellow (puke) and are far to expensive. Why are they only worth $79 in the US and $175 here. becasue we are being ripped off. They are made here, we don't have to pay freight as if we were importing them. And they can only sell them for what the market will pay in the US, so that is all they are really worth. We pay it here for the support etc. The springs are very soft. Most manufacturers including King, lovells, Dobinsons, EFS, TJM make substantially stiffer springs, OME are the only ones (including the US makes) that i can find that make them so soft. Maybe softer is good, but i thought i would go with the trend and buy stiffer springs, especially for the front. In saying that the US seem to love the OME springs and shocks, both the quality and comfort, although they commonly use the longer travel "Offroad Only" shock for increased articulation, and both springs and shocks are at the top end of the price range.

You can get LT OME Shocks here there just not painted black.
And if the Rancos you chose increase wheel travel more than 1/3rd of the full travel on the stock shocks then im afraid to say your shocks would be considered off road only too as there not roadworthy.
dont get me wrong i dont give a rats ass about increasing your articulation V's law cos if we all followed the strict unworkable guidelines we are given in this policed country we are all driving unroadworthy cars in some area. But dont think that because they dont say off road only you roadworthy!

Unless somethings changed recently USA King dont do Coils for the Jk only Shocks, unless your changing to Coil overs! but then you mention Ranco? Are you talking about some another King Springs?
Im fitting AEV right now and the Bilstiens have a lot of shock travel, they dont say 'off road only' but the front shocks have more travel than OME LT Shocks!

As for the Yanks liking OME, eh to them its an import, and probably like them if i buy an import i think im buying something special even when its nothing special or different than i could buy locally.
I read Project JK Forum and i see a few that have OME change to something else like Tera Flex.

And although i have nothing against OME it is not a Kit! people need to understand that! and that there's more involved than just throwing in Bigger Springs and Longer Travel Shocks, a lot more
