That make its clearer. I just opend it up and had a suss. Is there anyway of telling whether the contacts are up to it? I checked them and they were not discoloured, but that may not mean much I am guessing? If I install a 80amp relay will that help prevent possible future probs?

Yes it certainly should, if you go to Jaycar they sell a 70/80A relay and spade terminals to suit which should fit your wiring, just use the pressure switch to turn the relay on and off....

Completed a 500km trip yesterday after rebuilding my power steering pump. No leaks !!
Total PITA to get the pump off & back on. Very simple vane pump. The pulley support bearing had failed. I guess when replacing the belt, mine was original with 150k on it, the idler & support bearings should be done. I packed the new bearings properly with decent grease before use. An old trick I learned from seeing it done in the army supply place at Maribyrnong 30 years ago.

hey JJ can I PM you some questions re rigging up the relay. I will get a 70amp one tomorrow from Autobarn. I looked at them today but left feeling more confused about getting it to work. I had some salesman tell me it may not work. Should have just got it and figured the rest out tonight with help from AJOR.

regards A
