It drives really well on road and off road. The bigger wheels have now been offset by the 4.11 ratio diffs. Technically it's now 5% more torque than stock diff and stock wheels, but 10% more torque than where I was (with the bigger wheels). Basically the torque curve is back where it should be and at 100kph it is still just inside the green zone for economy. I didn't change the ratio to get more torque off road. I did it to put the car back in balance. 4.56 gearing is too much for me because I didn't want it to be revving too high when I do long distance touring.
Off road was really impressive with the selectable front locker and the auto locker in the back. Its the first time I have used lockers so I have nothing to compare it to other than how the KK was before. Going up a really steep slope of loose muddy gravel was easy and no wheel slip at all. It was amazing how much more traction I got. The e-locker is silent. The only way to tell that it is on, is by the light on the switch panel and the increased effort required to steer because both wheels are trying to rotate at the same rate. I am so much more confident now about getting into or out of a sticky situation.
The Jeep traction control perfectly complements the Detroit Truetrack. Even though it is an 'auto-locker' and way more sophisticated than a simple LSD, it still needs a bit of friction on the loose wheel, which is where the braking diff kicks in if a wheel leaves the ground. Just driving along at 80kph in 4x4 high on a dirt road, I could feel more traction though (it could be in my head but it felt more stable).
I am really happy that the KK is now set up properly for long distance touring to get to some great off road places. A soon as I get time off work I will take it for a road trip. My drone arrives next week I hope so I might get some good 4x4 footage.
