Hi guys just an question. I have a 2012 manual jk, i have noticed a knocking sound coming from the vehicle, it sounds like its coming from the gearbox. I can only hear it when the vehicle gets warmed up, when you push the clutch in you dont hear it, but when you let it out you can. Any ideas?

I have something similar on my manual 2008 rubicon, so I am interested what comes out. For me it's a ticking sound from the gearbox (it seems) and most obvious around 2500 rpm and indeed louder when hot.

According to my mechanic it's normal wear of the gearbox, not much that can be done (except $$$ for replacement).

I wonder if an oil replacement might help?

Problem with knocking sounds is they're hard to diagnose, especially without hearing it. This could be a worn thrust bearing, gear box out to fix. A shaft bearing in the gear box on it's way out, remove gear box to fix. Could also be nothing to worry about but best to have someone qualified check.
Changing the oil won't hurt, but won't fix anything.
