My build sheet is the dinky di Jeep sheet for my vehicle. I got it many years ago now.

Axle ratio is 3.55 and it has a Dana 44/226mm in the back and a Dana 30/186MM up front which I believe is the standard issue with Quadra Trak II, so take aim and peddle to the metal if in doubt.

The 5 speed auto in all 2.7 CRD's are known by Jeep as DGJ - W5J400 which in MB speak is a 722.6 - W5A580. So if looking in a Jeep parts list the DGJ designation is what you look for

So I thought that's it's the same gearbox. It's the NAG1. Too bad the company I work for was not around when it was built, as we were involved in testing the NAG2, the 7 speed on newer models. Would've been fun to find the code which runs on the gearbox controller.

Why??? It's still a significantly better gearbox than many newer offerings from other manufacturers. Point in case the rubbish 5 speed in the wife's Mitsubishi Challenger. The MB box might be over 10 years older and old hat now but it runs rings around the piece of crap Mitsubishi put in the Challenger.

Just for the fun of it (I'm a software developer and seeing the code is fun for me) and possibility of adding push-button shifting.
I really like how the NAG1 shifts and behaves. It's sooo comfortable to drive an automatic.
So far, the ugly failure of the VM in the XJ, forced me to buy a much much better car.

Good develop the codes so Torque Pro would work to get the Tranny temps and I would be a happy man then, thats all I want to be able to see the temps..........well not all that desperate really as I could just plug in an analogue gauge but a lot of stuffing around, people tend to forget the old ways. ATM if the engine temp gets too high I know things are getting hot....

PS: I seem to recall reading a few years ago now, that there was some small changes between the MB box and the NAG 1 which ended up in the petrols, just can't recall what

Also got around to checking out that build sheet on the Jeep site and it is a very basic listing, mine has the product codes, dates and heaps of other info and the paint codes, mines from the Star Network which I think is what the dealers can get, had mine since about 08 I think a fella on here got it for me.

Haha, whatever floats your boat I guess. Yes I don't see the box really needs anything to improve it, for it's vintage of course, compared to say the 7 speed. The tiptronic version in the later ones would be nice but really manual shifting is not cumbersome. Maybe add flappy paddles like our Challenger, it's about the only saving feature of an otherwise inferior box. I always considered it a novelty but it really does make the function of the box just bearable.

Just to take you back to your youth, I have a digital temp gauge and sender/probe specifically for that purpose. I bought it but never got around to installing it. A man of your talents could lob in and get it done in record time.. ATM if the engine temp gets too high I know things are getting hot....

Have I reached 10 characters yet.
