Well, the reason why I make such a huge issue is because I do some rock crawling on a somewhat demanding level as I'm sure you do too, but I am not happy with the car's crawl performance (and the car wears much smaller tyres than yours). Specifically what makes me unhappy is the car's tendency to pick up speed at down slopes even in 2nd low engaged which makes me resort to the brakes more frequently than I'd like; and the second problem is highway acceleration.
All the above with dwarfish 30.8" tyres.
Can you describe your car's behaviour with the 33s?

The gears installation failed because I couldn't find a way to... Convince the tranny to work with the new gear ratio... What tyres are you running? Did you try to change the axle gears too?
Check out the topic I made about updating the TCM for new gears.

IRO 4" lift with adjustable front control arms on 285/70r17 on stock drivetrain. Will be addressing the front driveshaft shorty.

I take it it is the "WG CRD and new axle ratios"?
I have already spokent with this Krautjeeper individual and he has done a very in-depth job the guy. However, he has not installed the re-programmed TCM in the jeep yet so no conclusive evidence that it all works as should. Looks like it will but not proven yet.
The problem with all those off-the-shelf control modules is they do not communicate through the CAN bus with other onboard computers so you end up with a tranny that is quasi-auto (allow me this labeling). His is a little different but still not proven that works as should.

[I will post over there as well for ease of reference]

My tires are 265/65 R17 BFG All terrains.... I think something slightly bigger can fit with my lift...

33 drive fine most the time, I used 1st low for crawling so not too bad. Still plenty of power on highways but yes a better ratio would help, at the moment it's 10 km/h out.
