I just pulled out a Z596 yesterday and put in a Mopar filter. Using same oil for the fill. It sounds exactly the same to me. Now it if you were to change the oil brand/grade then yes the engine could well sound different.

If I only looked here a couple of weeks ago. I just had to replace the regulator and glass, 2nd regulator in two years. Jeep were no help at all just 'yep mate it costs $620'. Their crap design has been upgraded but the buyer pays for the mod'ed clamp by buying a whole window as well as the regulator. Jeep is really starting to S**T me.
My bonnet struts started to fail as well. But i did find some after market bonnet struts on e.bay, from Aus retailer. They are sturdier than the originals and I only changed the damping foam washer over.

Great thread people.........now I have found a Gates timing belt T336 through Repco at $92.00 - a bit better than the $217 quoted by our local Jeep dealer.!!

The only thing is what else do I replace? There are 2 idler pulleys, gasket, tensioner, etc, etc
Not only that but Repco dont have the parts which leads me back to our kind Jeep dealer who quoted $350.00 for one idler pulley!! Who can help with the right part at the right price?? Cheers!

Try Neville at Osborne Fleet services - mention that Price recomends you and he should look after you - if you provide the parts he charges $100 per hour labour!

Search ausjeepoffroad and lostkj for GEORGE and vmmotori and maxus (as in trucks), his email is mentioned and you'll get the complete timing gear kit at what seems good prices from the manufacturer, you get a couple more bits than what jeep provide.
