Grinding/crunching noise from front driver's side

The following happens sometimes, particularly when the car has not been driven for a few days, usually following a rain event.

When reversing the car out of the driveway and the steering wheel is turned to the right (not in full lock - I am running OEM size tyres), a slight grinding or crunching sound is felt through the front driver's side wheel.

Note: This only happens when the steering wheel is turned right, AND the gas pedal is slightly pressed.

Once the car sets off, and the wheels are rolling I do not hear or feel anything (through the pedal) again. I have the car in FT 4WD and have always driven it in this mode, but as explained, it all happens after a rain event and the car has been sitting in the garage for a few days.

Any ideas as to what may be causing this? Preupdate XJ95 Sport.

have a look at the break calipers bolts if not loose . Happened to a friend of mine .

Roler, it is difficult to replicate in both 2WD and 4WD.

I have only noticed this problem after heavy rain, and after the car has been sitting for a few days unmoved. If the car has been sitting after no rain (the JKU is mainly used to keep the XJ mileage down), I don't hear anything or feel a vibration through the accelerator.

Edit: It has now happened with 2WD as well.

Thanks Amlav, it is due for a service. I will raise the problem with the mechanic.

perhaps your hubs are dry allowing some surface rust after rain i know my brakes can squeak after rain and sitting for a few days

Yeah it sounds like some surface rust given the relation to rain.
