Default Help Please - Electrical Problem

I have been trying to solve some issues with my 04 GC with no success, any help would be much appreciated! I have searched and tried a few things but I am now at a loss to what is wrong or were to even look. Sorry in advance for the long post

It started with a warning few lights on the dash flashing, then progressed to all the lights staying on and instruments dying needing disconnecting of the batt to reset. It has also has shown the incorrect key code needing to be reset overnight; frustrating when you are not near home!

While these symptoms are intermittent, the LH doors not locking with central locking are constant. The LH doors won't lock or unlock using either door switch or remote. The RH driver doors unlocks normally and the RRH door and tail gate will unlock after pausing before pressing the switches again.

I am aware that the first symptom is a bus issue and have searched at length to find the issue. I am however unsure if the lock issue is related or not.

I have tried:
* Check battery and earth
* Checking wires in door area - all looks and feels good
* Check voltage / resistance of various wires
* tried different switch modules each side

As a last resort I will take it to Jeep but I am reluctant as they have been APITA to deal with so far and expensive and from my research they have difficulty effectively solving these kinds of problems.

Any ideas?

Check the flexible wiring to the drivers door, inside the black rubber flex tube,
the cables work harden and break inside the PVC insulation, this is the most likely cause.
The last one I did the large orange cable and the black cables were broken, but check all
the cables as there may be more.
Cheers John

I did a write up on this issue a while ago, just realised the writeups section in the WJ is gone I thought it was helpful.

A new battery may be all that's needed.

First off get a load test done on the battery and check proper earth at battery and engine, it can show up 13v but still be cactus, the jeep is power hungry and any slight battery fault will send it spazo.
Also as mentioned the door wiring harness where it is in the door jam can get breaks in it, just patch in a new bit of wire ,access from panel near accelerator and you do not have to remove door panel as the harness unplugs from the door, just lift the rubber boot and theres a plug. (at least I think there was on the WG, long time since I did mine)

Unplug and clean up every electrical connection you see, even those that would have no relation to the problem as they are the usual culprits to throw things out.

Thanks for the replies. It is a new battery (less than 6 months old) and I have already checked the wires in the door inside the rubber tubes. Could it be a BCM? is that a Jeep fix?

It could still be the battery, age doesn't matter and the wires must be checked with a meter to show continuity, they will not show from a visual inspection you may have to follow up to the controller in door.
If that all checks out then it could be a module or just a dodgy earth somewhere, if it's the module then check insurance and have a bon fire.
