Changed the O2 sensos, then P0301??
Hi all,
I changed all x4 O2 sensors on my wife's 2010 KK 3.7v6 as at least 2 of them were faulty, throwing codes, and causing hesitations when accelerating etc, so decided to order 4 new ones and replace them all.
After installing the new O2 sensors, I did a hard reset of the ECU by:
Disconnect positive battery cable.
Ground positive cable for 30 seconds.
Reconnect positive cable
Turn ignition key to the "run" position (do not start engine)
Turn headlights on.
Turn headlights off.
Turn ignition off.
Started it up and it ran nicely, no engine light, no codes etc.
Then did a oil and filter change.
Had the engine idling for various amounts of time etc, no probs.
Then took it for its first drive and about 5 mins in, the engine light comes on and checking codes I now have P0301 misfire cylinder 1 and has lumpy acceleration from about 2,750 rpm and up...
Drives smooth under those revs though and idles smooth-ish (never heard the KK idle smooth, always had a slight lope to it, so I've assumed its normal)
Googled this and could be related to spark plug, coil pack, injector...
I haven't changed the spark plugs during our ownership but apparently they were done by the dealership before we purchased the KK 30,000kms ago with NGK Iridiums installed.
Tried to clear the code via my bluetooth OBD2 adapter and the Torque app, but it won't clear... (Torque app says its cleared, but the engine light remains on, then I scan the codes immediately after and the code reappears again).
I then hooked up my legit scan tool by Foxwell, and it was able to clear the code properly and the engine light has turned off. Took it for a short drive and it still drives nice and smooth under 2,750rpm, but accelerate up above about 2,750rpm and I can tell there is still a slight hesitation/small coughing. Didn't push it though. My wife is driving the KK to work today so will see what she reports back. She is also quite easy on the accelerator pedal so prob won't even rev it past 2,750rpm.
Anyone know if this is all related? Is it pure coincidence that I now have a misfire issue after the O2 sensor issue? I don't want to go throwing money (and time) at spark plugs, coil pack, etc if the root issue is somewhere else.
Thanks
