In America, doesn't the rubicon come out with 33" tyres from factory?

Yes it does (255/70 17's) and some year models out here came with them too. Problem is a roadside check goes off the largest tyre fitted to your vehicle which is on the tyre sticker. Unfortunately jeep decided to put the actual tyre fitted and not all options.

I also agree with keeping close enough to legal to not get hassled in the first place. I currently run a 2.5in lift with 33's (285 / 70 17's) and si far have never neede to use the winch!

Sent from a tiny keyboard with fat fingers, apologies for my spelling. .

Isn't 255/70/17 32"
In NSW we have VSI 6 http://www.rms.nsw.gov.au/registrati...s/vsi/vsi6.pdf

In short you can increase your tyre Diameter by 7% over what is on the tyre placard so a 245/75/17 can go up to a 33.7" tyre

The closest I can come up with is an Interco 33.5" tyre or 295/70/17

Pretty much on the money. So far I've spent around $2000 on 4.88 R&P's, install kits, sleeves and gussets, diff hats, hd ball joints and HD Unis, $1300 on a 2.5" lift and $1200 (quoted) to get all of the above installed. Then I'll probably drop $1500 on wheels and another $1500-$2000 on the tyres themselves.

That's $7500-$8000 and I've still got to think about flares and pickup a procal.

Plus I'm risking it in legal terms without an engineering certificate and running the above set up on a stock D30 in the front.

Amazing the amount of extra costs and risks involved in gaining an extra 2" of tyre diameter.

True. Speaking of looking cool. Is that your jku in your pic? Is it lowered?

Ouch you cut me deep with that remark.... Not lowered just standard height. We've only had it for 3 weeks now. The plan is a 3" lift on 15" rims (yes aware) and full smittybilt bar work. Safari straps have been purchased and 50" light bar will go on when the brackets arrive....
