Default WK2 Diff oils

This seems to be done a few times but to me no definitive answer has been given

I have QD11 with rear ELSD, my hand book says 75w-85 no friction modifier, now the front diff is open I believe so it's supposed to take syn 75w-140 with a friction modifier additive (according to my hand book)

Other sources say 75w-140 with friction modifier for the rear ELSD if towing or heavy duty work

Shell has a synthetic 75w-140 that mentions among others DANA diff's. Is there someone here that knows which Dana diff is in the wk2's with Adventure pack as in the original spool the diff's are supposed to be heavier duty or do they just use 75w-140 instead of 75w-85 in the same diff

My dealers service guy said they use a high quality LSD oil and with that it doesn't need any modifiers, however I know my previous WJ with QD needed the modifiers in the rear diff or the clutch plates would bind up and let go going around corners making some noise and even if you add the modifier after the problem it doesn't really fix it as some damage must be done

Tried Jeep Garage but still confused

It would appear that the Jeep friction modifiers are Sturaco 7199 Chrysler MS 5630 and MS10111 approved

Nearly all the other FM's are Sturaco 7098, I don't know what the difference is but according to oil tech people, if it has a different number then it is a different product and as such they will not recommend it

Iám pretty sure I read somewhere Castrol saf has the other FM in it (7098 ) that's why their tech people refer you back to the dealer network

Most LS diff oils with modifier contain the Sturaco 7098 unless they specify Jeep compatible, none in Australia

I have bought Mopar 75w-150 from US and will add Mopar FM costing AU$161.00 delivered for 3 Quarts. One dealer here quoted $145.30 per quart.

We use Valvolene 75w140 or 75w85 its a great oil and we have never had any issues with it & it takes the Mopar fiction modifier with no ill effect , would be much cheaper than importing the oil
