the question is, what to pay for it?
Is a limited diesel with a sunroof, 87k, clean and in good condition.
took it for a drive, drove well.
Incidentally, i informed the owner it was infact a 2015 that was registered in 2017.
Ge stated that he was unaware of that and that the previous owner had not told him that.
But i notice it is still being advertised as a 2017.
He originally had $44k on it but drooped it to mid 30s.
I reckon he may have got caught himself.
My thoughts its provably worth $30k as a private sale???

Yeah low 30s seems on the money - considering a trans service will be needed soon, maybe closer to 30.

Feel bad if he's been duped by the previous owner - but I guess that's why you've gotta do your research

Can see your point of view and completely understand your reasoning...but....take into account your buying 2nd hand with no genuine hard facts as to the previous owners maintenance methods, schedules or just how the services were carried out...ie: what type of oils, filters, were the old fluids actually fully drained, sump plug wiped clear of sludge n debri, plug put back in before condensation was allowed to form internally...all little things but can add up to major issues...and most importantly the actual driving method used and vehicle use....cold starts n short journeys are not good for these buses....70k may look more attractive than 170k but if the 70k was 12,000 5klm trips....that aint good...I know u get me and I know buying 2nd hand is always 'a pig in poke'...it truely is a balancing act....good luck

If your 14 is running well and you have looked after it I see no need to throw away coin just because of mileage, my 15 is getting to 120K km and I can see it dragging my van around well into the high 200K kms and beyond probably............ If this fella didn't notice the age difference then he probably didn't pay much attention to servicing other than put it in when Jeep said so nor look under the bonnet ............ better the devil you know and a fat wallet for travelling.

You're right in saying that any direct effects are probably unlikely, but I still think I'd be overly conservative on it. Sitting as spare parts is different to full of fluids, stagnant weight on suspension, and a heap of cold starts from people who have no mechanical sympathy when/if moving it around imo

That would be the only serious negative if a vehicle was started weekly or daily or what ever...that would kill the engine. If they were started to move them it would only be once or twice, no different to what happens at a Dealership in reality.
I doubt they would have been started at all...I recall when I was in the car trade new cars just sat where they were being stored...never started as that was a waste of time and energy.

At times a new car had to be jump started as the battery had dropped off...but that was generally when it was being moved to a Dealership and would be put on a charger for a day to bring it back up...

Being 6 years ago I can't see it being of an issue ....
