Glad my Skoda has a 7 year warranty, after that I could sell it on and start again but by then there'll probably be little option other than to buy a EV complete with the new worry of replacement battery costs and who knows what else ...If I happened to need a new thermo to keep the Skoda going, I think I know which route I'll go!!

Jeep/Fiat has to get them from somewhere so more than likely Dayco is the supplier since I can't find other brands other than Chinese its more than likely..
Anyway took the Jeeperific for a 300km run to Noosa and back, 22 deg ambient so quite cool and I had Coolant at 95deg, 3/8ths on the dash gauge with 89 deg about 1/4 and 100deg just below the half.......mostly sat at 93-5 deg at 112 on the freeway ............. so there you go............ blew the soot out and I got 9.3l/100km on a fresh tank which I filled in the morning with the same amount that I did at Kingaroy 3 weeks ago @ 199.9c/lt this time $20 cheaper as it was 175c/lt ........... hope it goes lower.

I was happy @ $1.87.9/lt yesterday....there is slightly cheaper in town but this place has high Trucking numbers/volume turnover and its a diesel plus type product...or so the marketing/advertising says...lol...no Caltex here and am a fan of the Vortex Diesel, so its whatever BP are 'pushing' as premium diesel...probably 'premium' plastic colour on the bowser

Wandering I know but I would love to get a hold of an old thermostat and do some comparing with housings to see if I could find a housing that would fit the engine and use an off the shelf thermostat, the facing on the engine is probably not compatable but be good to check out..
I usually fuel at a Liberty (25km away) which here is actually Shell supplied fuel ... our local garage can be a bit dodgy so only used in emergency ..... next fuel stop is 60 km away...

I've got 2 complete spare thermostats with housings on the shelf here now so at least I am covered for spares...there may be a housing that would fit, but to find one would be very difficult I reckon...the housing may well be unique to the VM 3L...

The thermostat is a bit unique as the 0 ring seal sits precisely in the bottom of the metal housing as well as a weird angled spout.
What might be easier is if you could use the housing but replace just the thermostat
edit - interestingly, had a look at my old thermostat, and yes you can twist the old thermostat out. If you can find a 88c thermostat with the right holding tags , could be a cheap fix!!
