If he had the software fix done they should be coughing up for the repair...........

My understanding was it would allow the engine to keep running and not just stop.........

Had a look at the parts needed, its like a $2 part and lot of work to get at it.....

Its interesting that my W58 Recall paperwork from 20JUN21 states vehicles 2014-2015, yet my letter from FCA says 2014-2017 and then the latest notice says 2013-2019, most interesting ........ Got mine done quick, recall out 21JUN21 and mine was done 1JUL21, I had mine booked in before the letter from FCA turned up as I was on the road and was near a dealer.

Too date all good.............

Yep, my understanding of the recall was that it was intended to stop incidents of exactly this nature, and that the vehicle will keep running in the event of a sensor failure.

Bizarre. Hope he keeps pushing back.

That recall must relate to the upgrade in HP...mine is a '13 but not involved in the recall...lower output engine rating...177kw as against the higher 180+kw of the 'version/model' change.
Feel sorry for tge fella with the problem...factory recall done and it fails...bugger that....be pushing VERY hard to have it redone at fca cost...not mine...and as a sideline...if I did have to pay, be fkt if I'd be paying $240/hr for a pimple faced phone attached and fixated apprentice to do the job...I'd pay to have it towed back to Jeeps'r 'Us in Coffs and pay him to fix it right !....geez...wot a cluster fk

ps: may have misread the OP.....has the W58 been performed already and then failed ???...or not been done and its caused the failure ????......either way....FCA PAYS !

The supposed power upgrade happened with the MY17 facelift I believe? My 2015 had the W58 recall done, so don't think that's the cutoff

With the Yanks not recognising Grands with a diesel pre2013 I would be looking at the ViN list anyway .................. a cross reference with the Batmobiles will show if the earlier diesel had the faulty part.....

I had another look and the 2011-12's were 177kw (237.3) and those that came in after Feb 2013 rated at 184kw (246.7HP), no other HP upgrade after that coming into the country as far as the RVD1 register shows.... I think more like software than nuts and bolts...... Mor elikely when they upped production for the yank vehicles they contracted a number of places to make the reluctor and they don't know who or where the suss bits went.... Can come from any european country.

I have run my VIN through the MOPAR Site....interestingly....the first fp relay recall is no longer on the 'recalls completed' list....sunvisor, brake reservoir water shield recalls completed....2nd fp relay and hpfp recalls incomplete...I did see more completed recalls previously on the same site...weird.
My biuld sheet has a rating of 177kw...biult Nov.12 plated MY13.
The HP increase was indeed computer generated and occurred with the MY14 and 8spd models
