Found this super helpful Australian video on the replacement in a diesel:
On old mate's recommendation (in the video) I reached out to a "local" dealership (they've all closed it seems!) to get a price. Got a quote back for an OEM Mopar unit for $350. Had to re-read it a few times as I didn't believe it. Cheapest aftermarket I found was $600. Drove down in the misses car and picked it up this morning.
Part No is CH-04801835AD for reference.

I got a whole rectifier frm the states around $90.00, bucks landed.FCA know full well diesel owners with failed alternators are pissed off ,so they are discounting their Mopar ones

When my alternator died last year it went up in smoke. See photo of damage, still have it in the garage at home. After arguing unsuccessfully with the dealership and FCA customer service for weeks I had to replace it myself. My replacement cost $381 from Auto 8 in Wangaratta.

Auto 8 is one of the places I have listed along with Comet batteries....... certainly fried.
