The great thing about living in Victoria is the respect for tradition and community

The Anzac day was almost dead when I was growing up - the negativity due to Vietnam etc

In 1995 Collingwood and essendon played a football match on anzac day 95000 turned up and there where another 30000 outside couldn't get in - the match was an exciting draw

Since that day the anzac day has meant something, RSL get record marchers every year - shrines and memorials are pride of place in towns and cities

Ask the Victorian RSL and probably all other state RSL's if the match isn't important to them - Absolutely it is...

Love Afl or hate it - its our game - the australian game and it like so many things unquie to our great country should be embraced on Anzac day

Lest we forget

Mercedes does not keep Jeep afloat, what an ignorant thing to say, Jeep was floating quite nicely thank you before Chrysler bought it and Chrysler itself was doing very well before the merger with Daimler, wasn't till after the merger that the shit hit the fan which many blame the Germans for.
I'ts also pretty debateable about Japan and Germany dominating the Auto industry, seems to me it's a pretty global affair now days.

and cripes are you saying its because of AFL that anzac day has any meaning, the only thing with any meaning in this country is sport? you can leave me out of that thank you very much. Could be why the Germans and Japanese are doing so well at buisness is because the rest of the world are preoccupied playing stupid ball and stick games.

This line got me thinking. You know when you hear people say 'if we didnt go to war we would all be speaking German/Japanese? Considering that we won, why do they still speak German & Japanese?

Not having a dig at anyone or anything, just my random rhetorical thought of the day.

A lot of my mates went to the dawn service this morning. Not because of their beliefs about Australia going to war, not because they want to show their respect, but because they want to get drunk & play 2up.

Watching footy & drinking... two very Australian things. Worth fighting for I'd say.

would have loved to be at the dawn service today,... unfortunatelly i have to work, and im in teh office at this point.

as far as im concern, i couldnt give a rats ass about who is and who is not paying respect to the service men & women in the past or the present... i know i do and thats all it matters, i choose to go to work today, hence i couldnt go to the dwan service, i get sleepy if i wake up too early...

last year i ran into TJ Dave at martin place... that really made anzac day for me...
