i can get my hands on a ls2 with 6 speed box out of a hsv, it has a dana 20 transfer case that after specking with Novack should match up, hopefully. i will add some photo's when back at the office so everyone can see the progress, there is a CJ5 for sale on U.S ebay that is what i would like my jeep to look as good, it's silver and is around US$10,000.
unsure of diffs and axles etc.. if anyone has ideas?
i must say that i am feeling so much more positive now i'm on this site with similar minded people with helpful hints, so for now and later on, thanks heaps

Just remember a CJ5 is very short and a 6 speed box or an auto is likely to be long big lifts will compound the effect of high drive shaft angle over a short distance
adapters will make it worse so the less of them you need the better
if your building the jeep for off road use look at a gm 4 speed truck box nice an short
if its going to be a show pony then you might get away with a short drive shaft
the other option is to extend the wheel base
Stock axles wont stand up to loads of abuse with a ls2 and you will need to upgrade or drive it easy
