have been to fraser a few times with the family and friends. the tracks are by no means hard. i drove on fraser island for a week in a subaru brumby without getting bogged once.

as for fishing, thats what we spent our week doing. if you are good at catching your own bait, it is SO much better than the bought stuff. we ended up getting 3 15kg+ silver jew off the beach, 2 1.5m bronze whalers and countless dart, whiting and flatheaad. if you are after a good fight the sharks get annoyingly thick at dusk but provide huge amounts of fun. single strand wire traces with 9/0's are a must and fresh squid of mullet will see you ripping them in.

have a good trip and post up a report on your return.

Have finally got just about everything done for the trip. Only a few days till We leave, starting to get a bit toey.....Just hoping for some good weather, especially for the long drive through to bundy from sydney on thursday. We are planning to hit the island on saturday morning, if we get the first barge from inskip, we should hit the island just on low tide for a good run up the beach to waddy point. Still haven't made our minds up on weather to camp in the beach front camping area or at top waddy. Still lot's room at both as off this morning.

Wady Point is a good place to Camp and Fish as the Camp ground with showers is not far from the beach and the beach camp ground has toilet block. So if you camp on beach you just drive up have a quick shower and pop back down to camp. I generally camp on beach as why camp in the bush when you go to the beach. And i think you better check your map as Bundy (Bunderberg) is way past Fraser you will have gone too far. Have a great time.

Just got back from Fraser myself. Fantastic place apart from one thing. F**king backpackers. Every night we set up camp a pack of about 40 dickheads in troopcarriers would plonk themselves right beside you (even though there is 130k of beach either side) and stay up all night drinking, smoking pot, faunicating and listening to loud crap music. And no matter how much you abuse them and tell them to F off you can not get rid of the parasites.
On this note I recommend you camp anywhere North of Indian heads because the inland track here must scare them as not many go past here. Also the best spots for fishing are up here. The other good spot we had was the Eli camping area as Eli creek is a good spot to escape from the heat and have a dip in fresh water, although there is only one spot deep enough to get right into, and as soon as you get in there 10 friggin Backpackers will bomb you and try and climb on top of you. (not bitter at all am I?!)

Have to go to bundy first to pick up a couple of mates who are coming along. They have only recently moved up there and and after the 4 nights on fraser will head back to bundy for a few days. I am not driving to bundy because I think it is on the way....

So are you going Sydney - Bundy - Inskip?

I would've thought that if you had to go to Bundy you'd get a barge from Hervey Bay - Inskip is another hour and a half further south... You sound like a nice fella though, I'd be making them meet me at Inskip.
