Default Wh crd - p0488, p2101 & cel

I'm hoping someone may be able to help with some suggestions on where to start to resolve these codes and Check Engine Light issue. I've researched these codes online and it all sounds very complicated.

These codes only appeared after disconnecting the battery.

I bought this Jeep about a month and a half ago. Was driving it around for 2 to 3 weeks with no CEL and neither of these codes, including a trip to Newcastle and back. I did have other codes including glow plug module and all 6 glow plugs which have all since been replaced and no more codes for these.

Anyway about three weeks in I was having a problem with the alarm going off at random. One suggestion was to disconnect the battery for half an hour.

After reconnecting the batter, almost immediately after next starting the car the CEL came on. Checked for codes and these codes appeared for the first time.
P0488 Powertrain Control: egr throttle control circuit ""a"" range/performance
P2101 Powertrain Control - Generic: electronic throttle control motor circuit/open - bank1

I've reset codes several times since, disconnected and reconnected the battery a few times, and CEL keeps coming back along with these codes.

Once I reset the codes while the engine was running, just before a short trip. CEL went out and stayed out, until I next restarted and the CEL and codes reappeared.

So it seems to be something start up related.

I was planning to remove the EGR and give this a good clean. Hopefully this might fix it.

Anyone got any other suggestions from experience?

Thanks.

I would pull the EGR out and give it a clean (they are real tight to remove) also check the plug.
Remove and inspect the plug for the throttle body as well, see how that goes.

Yesterday I disconnected the plug for the EGR and the 'throttle body' and sprayed some contact cleaner but they looked fine. No change.

Today I removed the EGR (yes very tight to get out) but other than a thin layer of carbon it looked near new. Gave it a quick wire brush anyway and checked the valve was physically opening. Also checked in the manifold and very little build up in there either.

And still no change.

Well that aint great news, i had the same codes with mine checked EGR, boost sensor, throttle body etc and all was good.
so i removed the turbo and found it was stuffed, leaking oil into the hot side, vanes bent and damaged as well as the compressor wheel with nicked fins.
