Ross a 6000 lb winch   I hope you dont want to recover yourself from Mud ???

How much does your grand weigh fully loaded as you use it out bush ???

I am sure you would be more than 2400 Lb's aprox 1088 KGs

The most common rule of thumb is you get a winch that is 2.5 times the worst case weight of your truck.

This means a 8000lb for a Wrangler is about as low as you want to go maybe even a little under

kerb weight of a TJ as from www.jeep.com.au is 1533kg or aprox 3379lbs this would mean the idea winch would be better than 8447lbs

Now also dont forget that that a winch can pull less that the stated line pull depending on how many rolls of cable are on the reel.

Just would hate to see you spend your coin on this winch then see it smoke itself and I am sure who ever you bought it from would not replace it under warranty when you said you tried to pull a ZJ grand out of mud with it.

So... is this it? three Grand drivers  Must be more somewhere Well anyway - as an update to mine above, after a weekend with TW at Toolangi and out with the "real" boys where nothing short of 35" will do, I now need to add skid plates over my diff, and aux petrol tank which used to be 51 lt but I reckon now about 45lt :( ouch - did she take a hammering up Rocky track - so much so that it spat petrol back out the hoses - me was thinking The custom TW 'arnie" hook worked well - it had to - I got dragged about a k down Vic Range on my belly by a 360 YJ. Oh well - my limitations must be acknowledged - even if not adhered to!

When your offered a winch for $600 you jump at it. When it's doubled to 12k lb it's more than enough for me.
I've recovered a Full Size Cherokee from "mud" with a Tirfor. Same size Jeep from a creek bed with a Tirfor when the 8000lb Warn decided to run a battery out.
I think with judicious use and other silly words, I will get lots of use of the 6000lb'er.
Specially when a Tirfor is "how many pounds pulling power?" :D

Any how - with my expert wheel placement and excellent driving style - I don't get stuck
The winch is just there for show ;)

Billsta - that is impressive stuff - I think? My wife and I were debating this last night while watching the weekend toolangi video - "is this the way to treat $50K+ (in your case) of motor vehicle?? Well hell yeah if you're a millionaire. But we;re not so now even she is suggesting a toy jeep! I think this is good.

Hey Breals - are you going to bar up for the winch or some fabricated invention of yours? :D
