Default Front diff locked on commander

Hi all

Sorry if been discussed before ... but only seeing bits and pieces on here

Basically, appears my front diff has locked up on my limited commander, you can feel it jumping when turning and is hard to steer.

Background ... had it serviced last week, then went on a 1700km towing a car on a car trailer ... day after returning issue starting happening.

Jacked the front end up, wheels obviously winding up as released as soon as wheels cleared the floor.

Have tried running car without fuse 25 and crude attempt at cleaning front wheel sensors, but no good.

So my two theories..... (and hopefully the cheaper ones to fix)

One .. incorrect transfer/diff oil added during service

Or two ... wheel sensors failing

Any other theories out there what has happened?

Was there friction modifier added to the diff oil when it was changed? QDII requires it.

Please tell me they used oil not transmission fluid in the transfer case.

I am sure hoping they put the right stuff in - they only replaced the engine oil which I am pedantic about right type - the rest according to service report was just top ups.....

Even dealers are known not to use the right stuff.
If your recept doesn't specify what was used (ie QDII diffs (both) require 120ml of Limited Slip Additive, if they didn't charge you for it they didn't put it in!) I suggest checking with them.

Some limited slip oils come with the additive already in it but you need to know what oil.

Result .... changed the front diff oil and after driving 500m, issue appears resolved ... steering is slightly heavier than normal, but definitely no lockups or chattering out of the front.

Will see how it settles down over the week.

No odbc error codes detected either .... but diff seal is weeping slightly .. so suspect either was low on oil, and or service people topped up with wrong type.

My grand did this about 2 months ago, changed the fluid and the chatter has stayed gone, felt horrible when it was doing it.
