Default Thermal Fan Noise after Trans Update

Hi All,

Surprised no one has posted this on here - perhaps I've missed it?

Quite a few of us on the Caravanners Forum have this new problem.....

Intermittent loud noise coming from the Thermal fan - it is loud - no, you can't miss it!

Have been told by others on there that Jeep is working on an update for the update!

Apparently not a problem, but just annoying as it is darn loud.

Ours didn't do it again after a couple of hours - apparently it just comes and goes.

Strange, but true. Bugger we had to have that update, that most of us didn't want or need!

Anyway, will report back if and when Jeep have a fix.

Anyone else on here experienced the noise?

Cheers,
Sally

Hi Sally,

Yes mine has just had a service & shifter Update & mine too has done the HIGH FAN recently, not all the time just twice that I have noticed. Car was 85deg water temp when it did it the second time... didn't have a look the first time. Used it over the weekend 800km's & it didn't do it.

Thanks Derek.

Apparently the dealer reckons it is good for towing - keeps the temps down better.

So suppose other than the noise, not really too much of an issue. Just noisy when you first hear it!

It only does it now and again, so I'm told.

Cheers,
Sally

Yeah noticed this, didn't ask for a trans update either but they noted some updates on the service.

I would just describe it as max fan RPM when not needed.

Only other time my cars fans span that hard was towing a camper trailer up some steep rocky climbs.

Hi,

Thought so - was away on Brisbane for our 25th Silver Wedding anniversary and a few other places, so wasn't on for a few weeks!

Thought others must have noticed it!!

Cheers,
Sally

Hi. My 2015 jeepgrand cherokee dieseland mates at work has same issue. Never heard the fan until the s49 update was done. It comes on randomly and is intrusively loud. Sounds like something is going to blow. I contacted jeep in wanneroo WA and they confirmed that Chrysler Fiat has confirmed a high number of complaints and they are working on a new update for the update to be completed by dec 2016...
I wonder how long they new about it for as I only just had the update. Surely they should not have carried it out knowing it was a faulty update. And the software engineers who come up with these patches need to be diciplined for not being thorough before releasing these updates.
