The one picture in the DIY attempts that really stood out with me was the ability to drill the flange on both ends and secure (like water pipes) using M3 bolts with lock nuts as will be the strength component with glue sealant to get out of trouble. Or just drill the bugger with bolts prior to this occurring with sufficient torque so as not to stress the joints in compression perhaps. Another trip to Bunnings for some bolts and into the spares box.

In the original post on this thread, this pic shows the repair, now if you can get M3 stainless, that flange looks like it will be high enough to drill around the circumference so bolted instead of zip ties given the dia will be very small here.

Thank you Mousie....I said when John posted the pics that I was very impressed with his 'roadside ingenuity'....Im not hard to 'confuse' so missed your meaning...can understand exactly where your coming from now. If you go down that path, please post pix of your method for this 'inbiult' weak point....Im going the exhaust tube and t-clamp method with both ends of the piping having a thick bead roll to enhance/assist the clamps bite on the tubing...will be using Drovers dimensions for the tubing and adding the bead role when the item is manufactured....also liked ozziedaves take on the upgrade...looks robust.

I reckon I'd be gluing the flange in with JB Weld or Devcon.....it would be there forever.

If mine had popped while on tour it would have got some liquid steel goop and 4 wafer head tek screws inserted, mainly because that is what is in the spares box and I reckon that would hold very well....
