Unfortunately the areas of history covered during the mandatory years of school don;t cover 'recent' (20th C) Australian history.
In WA you have to be taking History as a choice in yrs11 and 12 to study those areas at all.

simple Ignorance.

I was never more into school than during the times we learned about australian history.
mainly the anzacs..because of the close connection alot of us would have with out grandparents being part of it.
we have alot of people we all owe a great debt too. and a few minutes of thier valuable football time surely isnt too much to ask.
I believe crossflow is just out to bait some form of argument.

Oh I'm sorry I didn't go jumping into agreement with you so you make it personal?

Sorry but the reality is not everyone is going to be into the Anzac thing. Even the players at the Brisbane game couldn't stand still during the bugle playing and national anthem, I rekon their minds were on what was going to happen in the next 90 minutes and not what happened 90 years ago.

Don't beat up on me over it, just think people went to watch the football and didn't expect or maybe even understand what was going on.

Some people just don't care about that sort of stuff.

I watched a good documentary on ABC tonight about WHY they had to land at Galipoli and it was eye opening. Not too long ago (when i was school and after i left) all i knew was that Galipoli was in WW2, or maybe WW1

I don't agree with mixing ANZAC tradition with footy matches, people don't go to footy matches for that reason. You can't expect drunken brain dead morons to know about history as well as follow an odd shaped ball...
