Default Coolent temp, what is your avg?

I am noticing unusual coolent temp on my 2012 v6, usually its always around ~83-90 degrees celsius tops. However since having the car back from the alternator work, it avg around ~83-103 degrees celsius.

Mostly sitting around mid to high 90's, its like the thermostat opens late and when it does the temp goes back down to 87-90 which seems correct, then shortly after it will creep back up to high 90s.

This is just from a short 40min drive home from the office. No towing.

History, Radiator and Trans cooler age 1.5yrs. Jeep replaced them with new, under warranty. Coolant flush was done 1.5yrs ago.

My14 Diesel.
I watch mine like a hawk with OBD scanner always on my phone.

Freeway driving, ambient temp 35, oil temp about 98-102, coolant 92-98 (OBD)

City driving 35 degrees, oil temp 100-105, coolant 96-102

Drop the ambient temp down below 20, and oil temp rarely gets above 92, coolant rarely above 86-92.

Below 10 degrees ambient, will see coolant temp hovering 75-85. Quite erratically, on freeway. More constant 82-88 city. Oil about the same.

I assume the thermostat at low ambient temps is constantly closing trying to keep temps warm, while with high ambient temps it’s always open so temps pretty stable.

Needle hovers around 1/3 -2/3.

Oil temp on evic/ dAsh gauges always higher then coolant temp through scanner.

Just did a drive of 45mins each way, mostly on freeway (correction, bloody expensive tollway!!) at 100kph with a/c running. Few mins either end at normal urban speeds 60-70 kph. Ambient temp on outward journey 27, coolant 85. Return journey ambient temp 30, coolant 90 according to evic.

Thanks guys,

Most of those are of CRD so I'm not sure if that makes any difference. In any case, mine doesn't look too bad after seeing your figures and probable within its tolerant especially in the warmer month, Perth.

Going to place an order for a thermostat to keep spare as their relatively cheap, as I have read many have been charged the $400 mark for something yet so simple to replace. Easy enough to leave in the spare wheel area I guess.
