Default Murramarang National Park tracks (South Coast NSW)

Hi All,

Has anyone driven on these tracks recently (Or not recently)? I am heading to Murramarang resort with some friends and we were thinking about accessing the park the fun way, through the national park itself, from Maloneys Beach. There appears to be a road leading into the national Park from Maloney's drive, but I can't find any good info.

The lady at the Murramarang Resort office warned against it due to recent rain but I find myself wondering 'How hard can it be'!! Looking at the map we'd like to take the most direct route. There is no info on the national parks website about roads in poor condition. Does anyone have any intel?

The vehicles are my 4x4 Laredo and a well equipped FJ Cruiser.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Well I found the track and it is indeed 4wd only. Got a couple of km in through some pretty tight and undulating tracks and traversed a couple of huge puddles. Got to the shops this morning to find my front number plate missing. Thought it had been stolen until I decided to check a video of the jeep swimming through the aorementioned puddle and what do ya know? It went for a swim! Will post the video upon my return!

Anyone had this happen to them before? Never ended up going back for the plate.

I've been through there on a bike a long time ago; nice area.

As for your plate, it happens a lot(!); if it doesn't come off, it will at-least be bent out from the bottom and/or corners after a few trips.
Front plates need to be fixed at 4 points (at least.); top and bottom - sitting as 'tight' against the bumper as possible. It's incredible how much force water behind the plate can have.

Yeah, it was a beautiful drive.

Well that would certainly explain it! I take it replacing a number plate usually involves being price gauged by the relevant state government?
