Default Jeep Teases Concept Vehicles for 2018 Easter Jeep Safari

Jeep Teases Concept Vehicles for 2018 Easter Jeep SafariWe’re just a couple weeks away from the 2018 Easter Jeep Safari, which begins March 24 in Moab and coincides with the tail end of the 2018 Jp Dirt ‘N Drive Presented by Jeep.

And the company behind the seven-slat grille is getting ready for the event in fine fashion: by teasing its new concepts that will debut among Utah’s red rocks.

Two of the concepts, teased yesterday, look like they’ll hearken back to Jeep’s glory days of the 1960s and 1970s, when off-roading as a hobby was just beginning to take off. The concepts are clearly based on the all-new 2018 Wrangler JL, each with a distinctly retro vibe.

The first illustration—by design legend Chris Piscitelli—shows a Wrangler JL, seemingly tearing across a desert landscape with a cloud of dust in tow.

It’s hard to see what will make this concept stand out from a stock Wrangler, although we can make out high-clearance fenders, oversize tires, and cut-down half-doors. Jeep’s Instagram story reveals a few more details, including engine vents in the front side panel, a bobbed rear end, and what looks like a Hemi V-8 under the hood.

The second image also shows a Wrangler-based design, but a slant-back hardtop, mini doors, and two-tone bodywork seem to suggest a redux of the Jeepster Commando.

As one of the first all-purpose SUVs from the brand, the original Jeepster Commando introduced a few luxuries to the rugged CJ-series SUV, making it a fun daily driver as well as a great trail machine.

See anything we missed? Let us know!
