Hi Daz. Thanks for feedback. Yes this issue is with the JK Wrangler, have both the JK and KJ now, actually the Wrangler is my sons.

I'll check the negative earth cable on weekend and see if that fixes the problem.

It's been a while as the jeep has been off the road. Checked the earth and all on there, also replaced the glow plug relay as it was damaged by acid.

Seems to be starting better but sometimes when cold (first start for the day) it can take over for 10 or 20 seconds. When it does start lot of white smoke for a couple of seconds.

Then it will be perfect for the rest of the day, starts pretty instantly.

What other things could I troubleshoot replace to try and got it fixed.

Thanks
Kim

Default Jeep hard starting

Hi I see you have changed a couple of things to get to the bottom of your problem. Have you you tried the crank position sensor? I had a VW tdi with the same problem hard start when warm. It turned out to be the cam position sensor but the crank sensor can give the same symptoms. The sensors break down when warm but cold are perfectly ok. I got no fault codes si it was a matter of trial and error and a lot of forum searching. I too have a wrangled jk 2.8crd and live in the UK and I am having problems with mine. Can't rev it up as it chokes and splutters and knocks like hell with no fault codes. Lots of smoke too. Looks fuel related to me.
Regards
Jeff

I had the same issue with my 2008 CRD... took it to a Bosch specialist and they replaced all the injectors (220k km on the clock)... that fixed it. It also fixed my wallet!...not a cheap exercise.
Mine would only start if towed started or bump started.. but would run perfectly.
You would never pick the injectors..
