just looked at my warranty book, clutch is only covered under waranty for 12 months. seems fair, vehicle abuse could wear one out in a year, or just really hard sand work or mud work by a dedicated 4wd enthusiast.

I have fairly grave expectations for the clutches in JKs - especially now that they have the 3.21 diff ratio. Seems to cause quite a bit of stress on the clutch. On steep hills I quite often smell clutch in the cabin just taking off as per usual (no riding etc).
Don't want to be melodramatic but just another thing to worry about huh!?!?

yep, if you read your warranty in the service booklet, clutch, brake linings, pads and rotors, and windscreen wiper rubbers and stuff are covered for 12 months.
td i have an 07 manual, i assume we have the same clutch. when i was pricing a spare parts kit a while ago the spare parts bloke said a full clutch kit of clutch plate, pressure plate and thrust bearing was about 500 bucks, so although it may be a weakness at least replacementcost is down. the problem is the flywheel .we run a dual mass flywheel apparently, which can't be skimmed and if your worn clutch plate puts a few wear marks on it it has to be discarded. new ones run into about 2500 bucks i have been told, but don't quote me on that. expensive because they come with the ring gear and damper springs in them. but if you are kind to your clutch it shouldn't be a problem.

Thats the thing mate, they are covered for 12 mths, but if they need replacing, (mine was UNDER 12 mths and under 20,000kms) they say no sorry it isn't covered, its a wear and tear item.
As for the flywheel issue, its a load of crap, I just had mine machined, by Jeep.
Cheers
Simsy
