Default Coolant for the Merc 3.0 CRD engine
Howdy folks,

Whilst I was working on my BIL's Commander, I noticed that the coolant tank seems to have what looks like plain water in the coolant expansion tank.

Does the 3.0 CRD diesel engine use a coolant that does not have any dye in it? Or is it supposed to be a particular colour? I would have thought that Mercedes Benz would have a specific long life coolant for this engine.

If so, what is the part number for the Jeep genuine coolant?

Found the answer to my own question!

The right part number for the Jeep coolant is 68048953AB for a one gallon bottle (3.78 litres), but this is not sold in Australia.

In Australia, Chrysler Jeep dealers are selling a 5 litre bottle under part number 05103532EC - 5 litre, 5 year coolant AUD $96.00

Given that the cooling system is 14 quart or just over 13 litres, one 5 litre bottle is technically not sufficient for a 50/50 coolant/water mix if doing a complete full flush.



This stuff is HOAT G-05 formulated coolant.
