Na not really. Engineer didn't seemed to fussed either (see what he says when he drives it though) and I doubt the blokes in the pits would have much knowledge on the dana axles. The 44 is pretty similar size to the diffs used in the v8 utes and such. I don't really plan to take it off road in this phase and I don't drive like a manic on the streets anymore so the axles will last the couple of months for the in-between phase.

Engineer was only worried about - noise (will be a close one), pollution (close one as well, cats looked a bit see-through), brake test, maybe a swerve test and general inspection which includes getting re-weighed and stamp plates changed as I'm having the back seats permanently removed.

Re your coolant temp sensor. You can get adjustable coolant temp switches that you can wire in line with your thermos so you can manually adjust when the fans kick in. I had one (a Davis Craig switch) fitted to my XJ's thermo and could adjust it to kick in anywhere from 65 degrees to 110 degrees. It was about the size of a matchbox with a knob sticking out and I had it mounted in the engine bay.

Another way you could go, and I think this is the ultimate (albeit most costly), and that is to get a multi speed adjustable temp sensor switch. The ones I've seen on the net in the states (sorry can't find any links on them now) allow you to just plug in your fans (either separately as 2 fans, or together as 1 fan) and plug in power and your away. You can then adjust at what temp the fan/s come on and at what speed (usually they only have x2 speeds, low and full speed). If its one of the best units and you have the fans connected separately to the unit, you can also set which fan comes on first and at what speed etc. They also have aux inputs as well for things like AC or low range, for when they are engaged then you could set both fans to come on at full speed for example. Pretty good setup. Would allow your fans to come on in stages as opposed to all at once. This style of setup is a lot more like what modern cars (esp FWD cars) are running these days that only have elec thermo fans and no clutch fan.

I was looking into installing this setup on my XJ cos I got sick of my 16" 3,300 cfm fan turning on and off at full speed all the time (really really noisy), but sold it before doing anything about it. Sorry i can't find any links to these temp sensor switches that I'm talking about, but form memory they were around the $300-400 mark.

Slowed right down now that I'm at work. But once I get home next week I'll post a few pics and vids.

Basically the engine is run in and done 5,000 ks. Once I get home I'll drop all oils and such and re-check everything for the thousandth time. Just got to get the reverse lights working when put in reverse and shes all good to go through engineering.
Go see the mob whos doing the cage and get some design ideas and quotes.
Got a adjustable coolant temp switch as Turismo07 suggested, so need to wire that in which will fix the fans from being always on.
Went and saw damagemans jk before I left and hes pretty much conviced me to go with triple bypass and coilover setup haha so suspension design is changing again. When a jeep liifted 4 inchs and on 37 rides better then stock, it gets you thinking...
Still staying 5 link up front but thinking of doing double triangulated stretch out back instead of single.
My axles have arrived, so now I can do measurements for shock lengths, the 4 link stretch (and try to work out the 4 link calculator) and can also find out how much backspace I need for my rims.

I'm hoping to get all this finished by September as there is a big jeep safari thing happening. But each month is disappearing too fast. Might just have to get the axles in and put a basic lift to fit the tyres but I also hate doing things twice, so I'll see what happens closer to the date.

Also in the process of finding a house. If I do the mature thing and get one that will slow things down even more...hopefully I won't do such a stupid thing

Yep, I agree.
Going with EVO's DTD or designing something yourself?

Up front I will use the evo setup, though out back I'm thinking I need 16 inch shocks as they will tie into the cage. So I'm going to have to have a chat to evo and see if they can sort out some tuned shocks in that length.
I don't have much knowledge on the correct springs and what valving I need, otherwise I'll talk to poly and they can help me out, though mounting them will be nice and easy
