Australia generally has excellent public health particularly for conditions which are considered life threatening.
Private heath insurance is generally not required if you are below 30 and in good health, but once we get past that age it is usually wise to purchase private insurance so one can get elective treatment if necessary, for treatment of most heath conditions that are considered not immediately life threatening and therefore not sit years on a waiting list waiting for treatment.
