Default WK2 Wheel Offset

Hi all,

I am having a look around at wheels but I an getting a bit confused as to what the right offset is I should be looking for.

Advice on other threads say around +19

Then looking on the net some sites say +56 while others say other things

http://www.wk2jeeps.com/wk2_wheels.htm

http://www.wheelfitment.net/jeep

http://www.wheel-fitment.com/car/Jee...010%20-%20%29/

Then looking at Murchinson site it says +36

http://www.murchisonproducts.com.au/...roducts?page=1

Is there a trap for young players I am falling into here?

What peaked my interest in all this was this listing on ebay as an option for cheap off road only set of wheels following a comment on anther thread that 17s would fit:

The factory wheel off set for the WK2 is +56, you should check what your state allows fro change of wheel track, this will give you a guide of how much you can legally change your wheel off set

I can't remember who it was that posted the pic of their WK running the 17" rims with +19mm.

At work on the sides of the boxes the Jeep/AEV black 5 hole, Spec Ops rims come in, it states they are a +19 offset rim.

Pop into the nearest Jeep dealer that has them and see if you can throw one one to see if it fits.

As stated the factory offset for Aus spec is +56. I wouldn't pay much attention to those sites that just give generic offsets for models probably all over the world. They are no indicative of Aussie spec WK2's or the WJ listings for that matter. Bear in mind some markets like the US in some models have had 2WD versions and pov pack versions with steel wheels.

You also can't just go by aftermarket wheel listings as they don't necessarily make a rim specifically for the WK2, they might just have something close from a previous model or even different vehicle with same stud patern.

So WK2 has +56 offset. Depending on your states current modification laws, in some states the requirement was independent axles could only increase offset 25mm so a legal max rim would be +44. Under the newer laws I believe they have adopted the 50mm increase as was the norm for solid axles so in that case a legal max offset would be +31.

Also to clear brakes with 17's it was apparently found a 17 with a +19 offset would work but...

Try the JK rim. +44 offset with the same PCD and centre bore. Should fit which means you can go down to a 17" rim and have move tyre options. 265/70r17 is a popular size.
JK rims are always being sold in the for sale section on this site.

No good for the WK2 they need way less offset to drop back to a 17. This is what Ryangler is getting at with his. He had to go to +19's to clear the brakes. Even the WH's won't fit the JK rims without a 6mm spacer apparently. They only fit straight on to a WJ.
