Default Leak in passenger side

I have finally located where water is entering the passenger side footwell of my 2003 Cherokee. I have finally figured where the water is entering from the outside of the Jeep. Does anyone know the purpose of the small rectangular hole in the picture? This is where water is coming into the footwell.

The slot is probably just an aid to manufacturing.

If that's forward of the front door, I'd be looking for anything on the outside like a door hinge bolt that might allow water into that cavity. You might even need to take the wing and/or wheel well splash guards off to find out where the water is getting in.

Thanks Jonny, I actually put a piece of plastic held in place with roof seal. I will make some investigation around the areas you mentioned and see if I can identify where the entry point is for the water.

Cheers

Nigel
