Hey guys I have a dana 30 in the front currently,
my mate said he would sell me his spare dana 44 for the front.

curious if it is just a bolt out and bolt in install or is cutting and welding required for anything?

The main issue you will have is probably regearing. Check the ratio in it against what you have first!

The D44 from the Rubi comes as 4.1:1, but the D30 is probably 3.21 or 3.73.

As far as I know, it's a straight install, but I haven't looked into it in depth.

Front Dana 44 from a JK will be a straight swap into a Jk that had a D30. Only things to consider:
- Regearing
- locker switch, you will need to wire this off the factory e-locker into a normal rocker switch, 2 wires get discarded (as they are ones that disable in 4hi/2hi), other two are the engage/disengage wires.
- check that pinion flange is same and that it hasn't got an aftermarket pinion yoke
Everything else is just straight swap across unless something aftermarket has been changed.
