Default should? can i remove my rear muffler from my 2009 CRD

has any1 taken their rear muffler off there diesel jk?
if so is it illegal in QLD and how much noiser is the car?

Mine made a very minor difference in the noise, made take off a lot quicker. Still need to get the pipe extended to the rear of the jeep to be legal.

Slight noise increase under load & no performance improvement. Would be interesting to have a before & after dyno test to see if there is any measurable difference or if it's just imaginary. I only removed mine to enlarge the rear storage box for a second battery otherwise I wouldn't have bothered. For real improvement fit a Staunbauer chip ;-)

thanx guys that idea bout the storage box is a great idea. or even thinking of putting an air tank where the muffler was.

Just done this, will need a small extension put on to bring pipe out.... But definate low down power has become more noticeable. Slight drone down low but noise wise, not much difference. Worthwhile (and cheap) mod...

Hey guys, when you take the muffler off and add the pipe extension, are you extending straight through on the left side or getting a piece bent up to poke back out its original place?
