I don't have such high expectations of those who work in the motor industry. My old man had a similar problem with getting his merc fixed. They are all a**holes.

Jeep56,

I live in Karratha 220km south of Port Hedland and our wk2 over the space of 6 months developed a knock in the front end. I finally diagnosed it as play in the steering rack with the mechanic at work and took it to the same agent you used (our closest) on the 1st November with the warranty to run out on the 8th. Every time I follow up with him he says he hasn't heard anything back from Jeep Australia and we will go from there.

What was you experience with how soon you heard back from Jeep Australia initially? 3 weeks seems excessive to me and im now thinking he is giving me lip service. We are due to drive down to Perth for chrissy and at 1650km I wanted to get it resolved before we left but on our phone call with him this morning he is shutting shop this w/e.

how did you contact Jeep Australia? and where did you get the reference number for your warranty claim from?

Thanks

Jeep made numerous promises to keep me informed and to give the repairs high priority. In every single case, they lied as well. They did not return one single call they had promised to, and they did absolutely f**k all to hurry the job up.

Basically they said all the right things but did not actually do anything to help.

Sorry for late reply, I didn't get a notification of your post. I used the Jeep Australia number which is 1300 133 079. They will give you a reference number and every time you ring back, quote that number and you will talk to the same person. Which is great but in my experience, pointless because they will do very little if the local dealer / agent isn't doing the right thing.

That Hedland agent basically will lie through his teeth to get rid of you. Don't trust them at all. I eventually told Jeep that I refused to talk or deal with the agent any more, and that I wanted Jeep to keep me informed of the repair progress. They said "Of course, we understand and we will keep you informed at every step" They did not ever ring me back when they promised, not once, until the car was finally fixed. I had to continually chase them.

My advice to you is to get onto Jeep now, get any and all faults logged with them, get a reference number, and most important - keep a diary of all contacts with the agent or Jeep. I am kicking myself now that I didn't do that. But I was so busy with work and trying to get things sorted to complete the caravan trip that it never occurred to me. Also contact the dealer where you bought it and make sure they record all faults as well. You never know, it could work out to be a very, very good thing that you have a very comprehensive history of reporting of faults, and the lack of support from Jeep to help fix them. A written diary is worth its weight in gold in a court case, particularly if it matches other peoples call records.

Having said that, all calls to Jeep are supposedly recorded, but if I had to rely only on that if I wanted to go legal on them, I'm fairly sure those tapes would never be found... Keep the diary, mate. Thats an order

Also, I had that same front end knock. Drove me mad. I put it down to the Jeep having no chassis and being made out of Alfoil. I know this will draw the flies but - they are just not built tough enough for Australia. No-one will ever convince me otherwise.
