Default Historic Rego

Just wondering if anyone (in NSW) is running their 30+ y.o. Jeep on historic/conditional registration? Not sure if there are any 4WD clubs around that are Cams affiliated offering it..

I'm in Qld, we don't have the CAMs rule here. But I don't thing a 4WD club would be affiliated

I keep a eye out for car/hotrod shows between Gold and Sunny Coasts. I will take my club regoed car for a drive when a show in on and go and have a look or just go somewhere near by. Throw some spare parts in and drive to a mates place to do repairs. The 15 k road testing range gives me some good drives from my house. Join a club and oranise trips that you want to do with your Jeep.

Just a few thoughts, I only drive mine once or twise a month, sometimes its only to keep thing turning over.

Here in Tassie we have "Special interest " rego which is less than half the cost of normal rego but you can only use the jeep for 52 days per year (no limit on mileage,I,m even taking it to Jambo ).
this suits me as its only a "toy" as i have 2 other cars as dailys
you have to keep a log book and carry it at all times in the car .
i am a member of a club but that is not a requirement for SI rego .

Historic rego is nothing to do with CAMS. The club must be recognised by the RTA as a Historic vehicle club and meet the RTA requirements. Coffs Coast Jeepers are a historic vehicle club as is the Land Rover club, don't know of any other historic 4WD clubs. To run on historic plates the vehicle must be unmodified except for options available at the time.

My mistake, i confused CAMS with the RTA (just renewed my Cams license..)

I've got Alfas on club plates which is great at $60 or so per year, hence I was curious if I could run a CJ in Sydney on them - dont think the Landrover club would want me though
