Maddog, first off VERY impressed with the race truck m8, very impressed and VERy jelious

In regards to the welding bit, just get someone in business say "Wooders garage" to put on two new apprentices, one evening a week at TAFE and you will both get subsidized from the gov. Go in as production engineers and you'll get all the training and knowledge you need, after 2yrs of that you can go for your structural engineer cert and your well on the way to engineering your own vechiles.

What about an I Beam and dolly with a chainblock, down the centre of the roof that can extend past the rear of the truck so in the worst case you can pick up the wrecked buggy and lift it into rear?

Webcam inside the truck?

A couple of James Bond things like a smoke screen, some missle launchers and oil slick tubes to derail the competition on the way to the event?

Hydraulic ramps so you can do mobile pick ups/drop offs like the Hoff! (Nightrider reference for all those less geeky than me!)

Anyhows the truck makes WAY more sense than trailoring everwhere.
Suggestions/thoughts:
Welder - not sure what sized generator you'd need to fire up that 200amp mig - might be worth just getting a small cheapie to keep in the truck for feild repairs which would mean a smaller generator would be ok.....
Parts washer - even a small one could be useful.
Anchor point in the floor suitable to winch the buggy up in the event it's not driveable.
Crane/hoist - very useful for oh so many things.....
Fluid waste contatiners....
Computer.
some good ideas there wooders

The tie down points for the front of the buggy double as a winch point if you attach a chain between them.

I've got an engine crane, will stick it in and see if there's room to strap it somewhere. Fluid waste containers isn't something I'd thought of. Will chuck a couple of empty bottles in there plus a catch tin for work.
