I did seriously consider a LWB JK, but just not sure it has the HP for the offroad CT weighing in at over 1200kg

You need torque not HP when towing.
HP gives you top speed, torque gives you pulling power.
Make sure you dont end up with something that needs 6 zillion RPM to do any good.

Thnx layback, as said, haven't 100% decided on the new one yet, but one of them has these specs - 200kW of power and 380NM of torque

Sounds like a petrol scarps. High KW output compared to torque.
If you are looking for towing with ease, I wouldn't go much below 500Nm.
Cheers, Craig

I would be looking for more torque, & a very flat torque curve with plenty low down. Stay well away from V8 petrol (probably diesel as well) Toyotas, most have a plastic oil pick up that melts & causes engine failure. I dont know much about the V6 Toyota. Anything with any plastic internal is a risk towing.

scarps just come out of 200kw and 380nm of torque... great solid car, bullet proof motor but drinks like a fish around town and evening worse if you r towing. Coming out of the jeep it will seem slow.
