Default WH NAG1/WA580 transmission oil

Hi all I just wanted to see what oil everyone is using. I'd love to stay genuine but dealing with the dealerships in Brisbane is a pain in the butt. They don't deserve the business when you have to leave your parts enquiry with a receptionist and they call you back at their convenience.

I know its a bit late

I currently use Valvoline Maxlife.
http://www.valvoline.com/pdf/maxlife_atf.pdf

Have used Penrite Multi Vehicle ATF FS as well.
http://www.penriteoil.com.au/pis_pdf...BER%202014.pdf

I strongly recommend you do a transmission flush to remove all the old fluid if you are changing brands.
This is not necessary but I have found it is beneficial, smoother shifting etc.

Clarky, How do you find the Valvolene over the Penrite?

I've found the Penrite shifting is extremely smooth and better then the Mopar ATF 4. Also I noticed on the Valvolene site that with respect to Auto Transmission Fluid for WH 2005 to 2010 it says "refer to dealer". But on reading the pdf on the maxlife atf it should be OK..maybe they haven't updated their site.

Valvoline Australia has no reference to the NAG1 box so after comparing the Aus spec sheet to the EU spec sheet & not finding any differences I got Pirtek (local supplier) to ask if its the same as the international version.
They got back to me saying its the same just different packaging for the AU market.

I have done about 8,000 km with this fluid & find it has smoother shifting then before. Mind you I did flush the system with 20 litres of Valvoline to make sure all the old fluid was out.

I just received Valvoline Maxlife from here as I like to keep spare fluids on hand.
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/141378715...84.m1497.l2649

It lists the NAG1 g/box on the label.
Available in 1,4 & 20 litre bottles.

Has anyone had a Transmission learn done on there gearbox?
Apparently Jeep can put it through a cycle where it adjusts the timing of solenoids etc internally that optimizes the shifts.
Mine is slow to shift from 1st to 2nd under light loads. It shifts fine when given more throttle or if using the Tiptronic though.

I have done it but I used AutoEnginuity to reset it.
If you Google "722.6 relearn procedure" there is several posts on how to do it without a scan tool but I don't know it they actually work on our Jeeps.
www.appcar-diagfca.com says it can reset the adaptive learning, its under "Initialize EGS" EGS is what Mercedes call a TCM.
Note you will need a usb type connector to use the advanced functions of diagfca.
