Insurance Institute for Highway Safety is a US organisation that test Yank cars in Yank configuration.
The JK in the States uses a different bulb than here. In fact they regard an upgrade to H4s as a major improvement. Go figure, we all want better than we have.

It looks like they only evaluated 31 cars all up. So there you go, if 31 models represent most cars then there aren't that many more. Nothing like having a representative sample to draw conclusions.

Fair point. I didn't look at the pic, I only opened the page to read the articles...

Yeah, US Jk's get some pretty poor lights, if their comments about how good the upgrades to Hella H4 halogens area....which of course are stock for us.
I upgraded the globes to Osram Night Breakers, which are a bit whiter....so they aren't too bad.
Of course my high beam now includes a 21 inch combo LED bar, and two LED 25W spots.....so on high, I can see a lovely flood of white light down the road.

I don't find mine too bad, though most of the time I'm on country roads with the spotties on. They are definitely worse than my old '99 BMW lights. People still flash me all the time with my low beam on

I had a friend who long ago had a VW Bug with the old 6V electrical system. He said he had people tell him to turn on his headlights not just the parkers... when he already had the high beam on!
